ONLINE DEPARTMENTAL APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE STUDIES ADMISSION

PLEASE NOTE: This form is a department application only. There is a separate online admissions application which is required by the Florida State University.

Please read all of the information below before proceeding to the online admissions form.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Each student who applies will declare a major field within anthropology and prepare a statement of intent detailing research interests to be submitted with the admissions packet (application forms, Graduate Record Examination data, three letters of recommendation, and transcripts). A writing sample is also required. Prospective graduate students must be accepted by both the University and the Department of Anthropology in order to be formally admitted into a program of study. Prospective students must apply to both the Department and to the University.

Please fill out the following departmental ONLINE application. There are additional items which need to be included with the application that cannot be processed electronically. Once an applicant has submitted electronically, it is the applicant's responsibility to complete the application process by submitting the following required items. These items may be hand-delivered or mailed, as long as they are received by the Department of Anthropology's advising staff before the application due date:

• 3 letters of recommendation, preferably from university professors who are familiar with your academic work. Please print this form, fill out the first section, and have your letter writers submit it with your letters of recomendation.
• A writing sample of a student paper of at least 1200 words in length, preferably one representing anthropological research.
• A current curriculum vitae
