I am a biological anthropology Ph.D. candidate primarily focusing on biological archaeology, paleopathology and public health. I am currently conducting research on the epidemiology of spina bifida in Ireland. I have incorporated a multifaceted methodology into my research design in which I utilize anthropological, archaeological, medical, and historical techniques. I believe that investigating the historical and contemporary causes of spina bifida will further endorse the use of bioarchaeological methods as central to data collection and analysis in disciplines beyond anthropology alone.
My other research interests include excavation and analysis of Neanderthal remains. I have participated on a Late Pleistocene Neanderthal excavation in Pinilla del Valle, Spain and plan to return in the summer of 2009. Besides bones and dirt, I also enjoy music, traveling and food.
