My research interests include mortuary analysis, skeletal biology, human complexity, and the Paleolithic-Neolithic periods in Europe. My primary research focus is the use of mortuary and osteological analysis to examine gender in prehistoric Europe. I have focused on Copper Age Hungary, and I am comparing changes in gender categories to other socio-cultural variables, such as trade and interregional interaction, to determine the root causes of gender change. This research will help to clarify and model the extensive social changes that occurred during the Early and Middle Copper Age.
I have previous experience excavating at Lake George in New York, and at Höhle Fels and Vogelherd in southwestern Germany. Additionally, I have done skeletal analysis on materials from Gyula 114 in Hungary.
