2004 Study Season

The field school was not held in 2004. Instead, we conducted a study season to document the materials we have recovered during our excavations at Vésztő-Bikeri and Körösladány-Bikeri.

During July, 2004, a small crew of volunteers helped clean, catalogue, photographed, and draw over 80,000 ceramic fragments, 30,000 fragments of animal bone, nearly a thousand flotation samples, and all the human remains from the sites. We also spent a lot of time developing the GIS database for the excavation units on the sites.

The field school will resume in 2005, when we intend to continue our excavations at Körösladány-Bikeri and to continue geophysical prospection at other Early Copper Age sites in the region. If you wish to apply for the field school in 2005, an application is available here.
